How to Translate an Audio Recording into Another Language

A lecture in German, a call with a supplier in Turkish, an interview in Spanish: the recording is in one language and the notes need to be in yours. Translating audio used to mean transcribing first and translating second. NoteBase does both in one pass.

  1. Choose the output language first

On the Multilingual Voice Recorder page, set the output language before you upload or record. That single setting is the translation: the transcript, the summary and any template you apply come back in the language you chose, whatever was spoken.

  2. Bilingual recordings

A meeting that switches between two languages is transcribed as spoken and rendered in the output language, so a conversation half in English and half in Turkish reads as one transcript. Speaker tags still separate the voices.

  3. Keep the original too

For anything you may be quoted on, run the recording twice: once in the original language for the record, once in yours for the notes. Both notes keep the same timestamps, so a line in one can be found in the other.

    • 100+ languages in and out
    • Summaries and action items translated, not just the transcript
    • Timestamps identical across the two versions
  4. Where the translated notes go

Send the translated note to Notion for the team that reads in that language, or export it as PDF or TXT. The recording stays attached to the note either way.

Questions about this guide

Does it translate live while recording?

The recording is transcribed and translated when you stop; it is not live subtitling. For a 30-minute recording the translated note is ready a minute or two after Done.

How accurate is the translation?

It is a translation of an AI transcript, so it is as accurate as the transcript; clear audio in a supported language gives a translation good enough for notes and summaries. Legal or contractual wording should be checked against the original.
